LIGHT SPEED III

The successor to Light Speed II, Light Speed III was constructed in 2002. Like the first Light Speed, Light Speed III competed in the Solar BikeRayce event in 2002 and 2003. It won the national championship in the Solar BikeRayce 2002.

SPECIFICATIONS

Light Speed III was constructed with a reinforced fiberglass body, powered by a solar array and 12 Panasonic rechargeable lead-acid batteries. It recorded a maximum speed of 1250 rpm. Upon completion, the vehicle measured 137 x 36 x 33 inches with a weight of 160 pounds.

Light Speed III, was constructed in 2002. Light Speed III competed in the Solar BikeRayce and was the only high school built vehicle competing in the American Solar Challenge in 2002 and 2003, similar to the first Light Speed.
